Who We Are

Meet Our Staff/Pastors

Pastor Sharla McCaskell

I’m Pastor Sharla McCaskell and I’ve served at Knollwood Heights UMC since 2011. Prior to that, I served as the Associate Pastor at Rapid City First UMC for 7 years.  A lifelong United Methodist, I grew up in Selby, SD, but have called Rapid City home since graduation from Northern State University in 1988.

My first job out of college was as the Program Director at the United Methodist Camp: Storm Mountain Center, where I was Site Director until 1995. In 2004 I answered the call to ministry, graduating from St. Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City, MO in 2010.

I’ve been married to Scott McCaskell for 33 years, and we have 2 children. Our daughter Molly lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico, working for Dona Ana Community College and son Thomas is the owner/manager of The Tiny Bison Resort near Custer, SD, along with his father. My free time is spent gardening and cooking. When time allows, Scott and I enjoy fishing together at my family’s home near Mobridge.

Phyllis L. Glahn - Admin. Assistant

Rev. Phyllis L. Glahn is a retired Permanent Deacon and Local Pastor from the Western North Carolina United Methodist Conference. She has also served as a high school Language Arts teacher, a social worker for Medicaid, and as her husband’s partner with three of their own businesses.  She moved into ministry when she began as the Administrative Assistant at her home church in Lake Junaluska, NC.  By joining the Knollwood family, she has come full circle in her United Methodist life. She moved to Rapid City in 2021 after the death of her husband, Ken, in 2019.

In addition to her work at KHUMC, she enjoys her volunteer time with Passages, painting in acrylic and water color, making bead and wire wrap jewelry, thrift store shopping and reading.
